Ellen Orchard - Printmaker

Hi! I’m Ellen and I run Studio Orch, an illustration and print studio based in Waco, Texas focused on minimal and handmade design. As a landscape designer by day, I am inspired by the natural world, city skylines, and my tiny chihuahua, Ichabod. I have a love for simple and handmade art which I explore through both digital illustration and traditional linocut printing methods.

I create a variety of linocuts that I draw, carve out of linoleum, and print by hand with oil based inks. I love block printing with linoleum because of the tangible feel of the medium and the unpredictable end result. I lean into the messiness and imperfections that come from printing by hand which makes each piece I creates unique.

My artwork is informed by all the places I have lived around the world in places like London, Switzerland, and California. These beautiful places fueled my passion for adventure, natural design, and new perspectives.
